About us
The HereNowLearn group is a new research group in Stanford’s Learning Sciences Technology Design program in the School of Education, working in partnership with the MobiSocial Group in Computer Science’s POMI 2020 Project. Researchers in HereNowLearn are interested in the intersection of learning, place and mobility, pursuing research questions related to how people learn in relation to identification with and movements across their socially and geographically organized worlds. The group harnesses innovative infrastructures built as part of the POMI 2020 Project to ask new questions about how place and time and learning interact in people’s lives. We also design mobile technologies that enable us to collect data about patterns of thinking, movement and actions of people and groups using mobile phones. Our current emphases include applications for sharing and discovery of stories and events related to places, and for self-monitoring of movement, learning and action across time.
